WHY'D THE MISSIONARY CROSS THE RIVER?!?! Sept 25th 2016

Hey everyone so this week has been pretty crazy....

So first off we had Zone meeting this week and it went really well and i learned a ton from it and i can't wait to apply it even more and to see how the progress is going in my district this thursday and also this will be my first time teaching district meeting so wish me luck!!!!

This week kind of sucked mainly the other day this week was actually really awesome but so saturday we had our whole day filled with appointments to find some people we talked too and granted they all live far from each other so we had to drive everywhere in our area... surprised we didn't get lost ;) haha but anyways every single appointment punted. for you that don't know what punted is... it's when either you go to the appointment and they aren't there, they are busy and tell you next time na lang. They say waay tawo ( no ones home) or one of my favorites. this happened to us the kid answers the door. Let me tell you why this is my favorite one of them all, as we all know kids are honest most of the time but here they are just super funny so we went to go teach this nanay and her son showed up from school and super cute kid but he was knocking on the door cause it was locked and went around back to get inside to get his mom and we can hear him talking to her and her replying back to him and he ends up coming back out and says " wara sia kono" which means she isn't here or she doesn't exist here... and kono means that she said it... so my answer to that " sino naghambal wara sia cha?" which means who said she isn't here? he answered "wara" as in no one.... but i asked where she went and he runs back inside and 2 min later comes out and tells us she went to town kono so i asked sino ang upod mo da? which is who is there with you and he said " mama" but they just are so funny and also another story dasig gid.... we went to another appointment and we see the people we talked to through the gate as they were sitting outside and they both look under the gate and look at us and start to crawl away to inside the house... when we got there her husband and daughter were sitting outside still and i asked the husband if they were here and they told us they left to go to the store. Ok maybe not the best thing but i was trying so hard not to laugh when i got told that... because we say them crawl inside the house and they saw us see them and know we saw them but just another day in the philippines being punted... but anyways we still had a good day and week cause we found so many people and families and had some really really amazing talks with some families that we will be going to visit this week and i have been asking them inspired questions and they are Golden as in they are searching for the truth.

One nanay i talked to talked about how she is catholic but she stopped feeling like she was close to Heavenly Father and said that all she did was pray cause she felt that church did nothing for her or help her and she said that they have a lot of problems and she felt Heavenly Father answer her and help her so she started reading the Bible again and then she felt like she had gained her faith back again but later she lost it and wondered why these things were happening and she said that when she started talking to Christian churches and things like that she felt even closer to God and to finding the truth cause she told me she felt like something was missing and she is dying to know what it is why she feels that way and so she was telling me she felt even better when she learned about Christians and started searching there for the truth and she said when she met with Jahovas witness that after her head just hurt from what they had taught her and she was the one to set the appointment with us and her family but we are super excited about that this week but other than that it has been a good fun hard working week as in... still a little stressed out about everything but it is getting better also i have a super huge heat rash on my back... it started out small but it rained really bad the other day and i don't have an umbrella so i got drenched and when i got home my back hurt and was super itchy.... i looked at it and the rash got massive. apparently if it gets wet it gets worse... which i sweat cause it is about 100 degrees almost everyday... so i have to put corn starch on it to dry it out to get it to go away but it hurts and i will keep you updated about it and also you guys will understand my subject when you get the pictures ;)

Answer to why the missionary crossed the river, To get to his teaching appointment and to get rained on and punted.... Have a wonderful week you guys and i hope that you had a wonderful Sunday at Church and with the family :) I love you all and i miss you guys Remember who you are. Palangga ko kamo

Keep Smiling :)

Pagpalangga,

Elder Merrill
